PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: FROM THE NOMINATION TO THE OATH Elections to elect the 16th president of India are announced. Elections are to be held on 18th July, counting of votes will be done on 21st July, and the new head of the state will take oath on 25th July. But how is the first person of the country elected? What criteria should a person fulfill to be eligible for contesting the presidential election? There are some criteria that a person should fulfill to be eligible for contesting the presidential election. Those criteria are:- 1. The person must be a citizen of India. 2. He must have completed his 35 years of age. 3. He must be eligible to be elected as a member of the Lok Sabha 4. He should not hold any office of profit under the Indian govt., or state govt. or the local authority/ government.
