THE MONUMENTS OF INDIA: THE BEAUTY OF INDIA
Monuments are the beauty of our country and play a vital role in the country’s economy. They are the center of attraction for the tourists. Some of the monuments are Taj Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Qutub Minar, Char Minar, Kornak Sun Temple, and Ashok Stambh. As Indians, we must know at least about the famous ones. 

QUTUB MINAR
Qutub Minar was built in 1193. It was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak. Qutub Minar was built to celebrate the dominance of the Muslims in Delhi. It is well known for its height which measures 73 meters high to the sky. Qutub Minar is made with five stories and projecting balconies. The first three stories out of five are made with the help of red sandstone and the remaining two are made with marble and sandstone.   

HAWA MAHAL

Hawa Mahal is also known as “Palace Of Winds” situated in Jaipur which is made up of red and pink sandstone. It was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799. It is constructed in the Rajput architectural style. This is the five-story pyramid-shaped monument which is fifty feet high. It has 453 small windows also called Jharokhas. The jharokhas were built with a purpose to allow the air to pass through them. It is one of the major attractions in Jaipur. 

CHAR MINAR  

It was constructed in the year 1591. It was built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi Dynasty. It is mentioned in the top ten monuments of the country. It is built in Islamic design and references to Hindu construction design. It is built with the help of lime mortar and granite. There are four minarets built in this monument on its every corner which are 48.7 meters high and it is said that the four minarets are symbols of the first four Khalifas of Islam. There is a mosque located on its top floor and it takes you to climb 149 steps to get there.

ASHOK STAMBH 
 Ashok Stambh is also known as “Pillars Of Ashoka”. They were built by the Mauryan emperor Asoka in the 3rd century BCE. All the pillars of Ashoka are built-in Buddhist monasteries, the places of pilgrimage, and some important places from the life of Gautama Buddha. Some of the major pillars are present in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

KORNAK SUN TEMPLE

Kornak Sun Temple also known as Kornak is situated in Odisha. This temple is dedicated to God Sun. Korna means corner and Arka means Sun. so, when it gets combined it means “Sun of the corner”. It was built in the middle of the 13th century. There you can see three images of god Sun on the three sides of the temple and they are positioned in a manner that it catches sun rays at the time of the morning, noon and evening.
  
SULTAN GHARI
Sultan Ghari was built in 1231 AD. It was built by Illtutmish for his eldest son Nasir-ud-din Muhammad. The architectural style of the tomb represents the architectural style of the early sultanate period. It is said that it is the first monumental tomb built in the Indian subcontinent. The tomb is constructed on a site of a Hindu temple. The tomb is located in an isolated area.



TAJ MAHAL        

Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife. It was built between in the years 1631 and 1648. It is built with white marble. 20,000 workers were involved in the construction of the Taj Mahal. It is an example of significant Mughal architecture. It is one of the big names of world heritage places. It is said that the workers who constructed the Taj Mahal, their hands were cut down by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
